
Local School Improvement Advisory Committee (LSIAC)
The Local School Improvement Advisory Committee (LSIAC)
is appointed by the Board of Education of the
Davenport Community School District in compliance
with Iowa Code 280.12. LSIAC offers the Board
recommendations on these areas to help bring a
broader view to implementation of the district’s
Continuous Improvement Plan.
Areas addressed by this group include, but are not
limited to: student academic achievement, teacher
quality/evaluation, district graduation/dropout
rates, school climate (including issues such as
bullying prevention, attendance, homeless youth),
and student enrichment programs including Great
Minds, arts, athletics and out of school time.
Membership
LSIAC consists of members representing the local
community, which may include representatives of
business/industry, labor, higher education,
community agencies, parents, students, teachers, and
administrators. Members are appointed annually with
the goal of maintaining balanced representation.
Meetings are held every four to six weeks on
weeknights from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Achievement
Service Center, 1606 Brady Street.

including a definition, levels of engagement,

September 20, 2006
The meeting focused on information the
members would like to have dicussed when the
district's Annual Progress Report is formally
presented at the November meeting. In addition,
the group reviewed the Comprehensive School
Improvement Goals as well as other information
for the state accreditation visit coming up in
February 2007. A survey will be distributed
regarding meeting scheduling.

dismissal proposal. The LSIAC was presented with
information about an early dismissal proposal.
The LSIAC created a
list of pros and cons to consider as the
district examines ways to create additional time
for teachers to work collaboratively and learn new
skills to raise student achievement.
March 16, 2004 - Wilson
Elementary School
Purpose – to analyze boundary
fact sheet and provide the Board of Education with
a prioritized list of boundary considerations.
The committee also developed additional comments
for the top six items from the prioritized list.
February 24, 2004 - North
High School Cafeteria
Purpose – to analyze needs
assessment data from the Comprehensive School
Improvement Plan Leadership Committee. The Local
School Improvement Advisory Committee created a
list of
prioritized needs. The information will be
used by the CSIP Leadership Committee as they
develop the district’s five year plan.
